The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement was a major conflict that was taking place during the
Nixon run. This conflict was for the equality of all races living in the
U.S., but the African-Americans were the main enforcers of this
movement. The Republican party, which is the party Nixon belonged to, had
this idea of winning African-American votes with this idea called "Southern
Strategy". Southern Strategy is the idea of appealing to African-American
voters by promising racial equality and an equal opportunity for education
amongst races.
